« Reflets » est une exposition multisite de l’artiste d’origine sud-africaine Corne Theron, déployée sur deux lieux à Sarrebourg.Une installation vidéo et verre, accompagnée d’un ensemble de photographies, est présentée à la Chapelle-des-Cordeliers, sur commande du Musée de Sarrebourg à l’occasion du 50ᵉ anniversaire de « La Paix », l’œuvre monumentale de Chagall.Des peintures à l’huile du même artiste sont exposées au Cinésar, prolongeant l’exposition dans un second registre spatial et visuel.À travers ces différents sites, « Reflets » explore la réflexion comme phénomène à la fois matériel et perceptif — à travers le verre, l’image en mouvement, la photographie et la peinture — invitant à un dialogue entre la lumière, la surface et l’image.L’artiste est représenté par Kunstvermittlung Lenhard und Gast.

'Reflections' is a multisite exhibition by the South African born artist Corne Theron, unfolding across two venues in Sarrebourg.A video and glass installation, together with a photographic body of work, is presented at the Chapelle-des-Cordeliers, commissioned by the Musée de Sarrebourg for the 50th year anniversary of 'La Paix', the monumental work by Chagall.Oil paintings by the same artist are exhibited at the Cinésar, extending the exhibition into a second spatial and visual register.Across these sites, 'Reflections' explores reflection as both material and perceptual phenomenon — through glass, moving image, photography, and painting — inviting a dialogue between light, surface, and image.The artist is represented by Kunstvermittlung Lenhard und Gast.For all professional enquiries, please contact the gallery.

Dans le cadre des célébrations du 50ᵉ anniversaire de La Paix, Cornè Theron a été invité à concevoir une installation en verre et un flux vidéo en temps réel, ainsi qu’un triptyque photographique, pensés en dialogue avec l’œuvre de Chagall.Installée dans la Chapelle des Cordeliers en 1976, La Paix est le plus grand vitrail jamais réalisé par Marc Chagall.Les services municipaux (musée, bibliothèque, archives municipales, conservatoire de musique), ainsi que le CinéSar et les Amis des Cordeliers, rendent hommage à cette œuvre monumentale fascinante et préparent un programme original et enthousiasmant à destination du public.ENGLISH:
As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of La Paix, Cornè Theron has been commissioned to produce a real-time video feed and glass installation, as well as a photographic triptych, conceived in dialogue with Chagall’s work.Installed in the Cordeliers Chapel in 1976, La Paix is the largest stained-glass window created by Marc Chagall.The municipal services (museum, library, municipal archives, Conservatory of Music), together with CinéSar and the Friends of the Cordeliers, are paying tribute to this fascinating monumental creation and are preparing an original and engaging programme for the public.

Cornè Theron (née en 1974 à Worcester, Afrique du Sud) est une artiste contemporaine d’origine sud-africaine, basée en France. Sa pratique explore des espaces émotionnels, perceptifs et subconscients où émergent des connexions invisibles. À travers la peinture, la photographie, le verre, la vidéo et les médias numériques, son travail interroge la manière dont des fragments — souvenirs, pixels, reflets — se rassemblent pour produire du sens.Formée initialement au droit (LLB, Université de l’Orange Free State, 1997), elle se consacre ensuite pleinement aux arts visuels. Après une reconnaissance précoce en Afrique du Sud, sa carrière s’est développée à l’international, avec de nombreuses expositions, foires d’art et cinq expositions personnelles depuis 2018.Installée en France depuis 2019 grâce à un visa talent délivré par l’État français, Theron développe un usage singulier du verre comme dispositif de filtration, générant abstraction, pixellisation et profondeur optique. L’eau y apparaît comme une métaphore centrale, évoquant la nature fluide et stratifiée de la perception et du subconscient.Ses récentes expositions personnelles se sont tenues à Francfort, Kassel, Munich et au Cap. En mai 2026, elle présentera Reflets, une exposition personnelle multisite à Sarrebourg, en collaboration avec le Musée de Sarrebourg, avec une présentation à la Chapelle des Cordeliers en dialogue avec La Paix de Marc Chagall.Ses œuvres figurent dans des collections privées internationales et dans la collection publique du War Museum, Bloemfontein, et ont été mises en avant par Artsy. Theron vit et travaille en France.ENGLISH:Cornè Theron (born 1974, Worcester, South Africa) is a South African–born, France-based contemporary artist whose practice explores emotional, perceptual, and subconscious spaces where unseen connections emerge. Working across painting, photography, glass, video, and digital media, her work investigates how fragments — memories, pixels, reflections — coalesce into meaning.After initially training in law (LLB, University of the Orange Free State, 1997), Theron transitioned fully into the visual arts. Early recognition in South Africa was followed by international exhibitions, art fairs, and five solo exhibitions since 2018, establishing her career internationally.Since relocating to France in 2019 on a French government talent visa, Theron has developed a distinctive use of glass as a filtering device, introducing abstraction, pixelation, and optical depth. Water recurs as a central metaphor, reflecting the layered, fluid nature of perception and the subconscious.Her recent exhibitions include sold-out solo shows in Frankfurt, Kassel, Munich, and Cape Town. In May 2026, Theron will present Reflets, a multisite solo exhibition in Sarrebourg, in collaboration with the Sarrebourg Museum, with work shown in dialogue with Marc Chagall’s La Paix at the Chapelle des Cordeliers.Her work is held in international private collections and in the public collection of the War Museum, Bloemfontein and has been featured by Artsy.
